What is my role?
Director, Founder and Support Worker
About Me and Voyager Care:
Hi, I’m Tamzin, the Founder and Director of Voyager Care. I’ve worked in the disability sector for over eight years, and during that time I’ve seen both the incredible strengths and the difficult shortcomings within the industry. One of the things that stood out most to me was how often participants and their families were excluded from decisions that directly affected their lives. That didn’t sit right with me. Everyone deserves a voice, dignity, and respect — and I wanted to create an organisation that made those things non-negotiable. That’s how Voyager Care began.
My passion for this work comes from both lived and personal experience. I helped raise my neurodiverse brother, which gave me an early and very real understanding of the challenges families face — from navigating services to making sure he always felt supported and included. Those experiences showed me just how life-changing the right support can be, not only for the individual but also for the family around them.
I also live with ASD, ADHD, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder, which gives me a perspective that goes beyond theory or training. I understand what it feels like to move through a world that isn’t always designed with you in mind, and I bring that understanding into every decision I make as a leader. My lived experience helps me connect with people on a genuine level, create environments where individuality is respected, and build a team culture that values empathy and authenticity.
Because of this, I built Voyager Care to reflect the kind of support I always wished existed for my own family — smaller, inclusive group programs where participants feel comfortable, low-pressure spaces where anxiety is understood, and a culture that involves families in the journey rather than leaving them on the sidelines. For me, this work isn’t just a career — it’s a calling. It’s about ensuring every participant feels seen, heard, and empowered, while families feel reassured and respected.
Voyager Care isn’t just a service — it’s a vision for what disability support should look like. Our goal is to make sure that every participant who walks through our doors feels welcomed, understood, and supported to grow in their own way. We aren’t about ticking boxes; we’re about listening, collaborating, and tailoring supports that actually matter to the individual. For families, we want them to know their loved ones are cared for, respected, and given genuine opportunities to thrive.
What makes Voyager Care special is that it’s built on heart as much as professionalism. We take pride in creating small, community-based programs that allow people to feel safe and connected. Whether it’s through cooking, gaming, life skills, or shared outings, our focus is always on building confidence, independence, and real friendships. We are participant-first in everything we do, and we never forget that every story, every need, and every goal is unique.
I believe strongly in leading by example — being present, hands-on, and fostering a team culture that is as passionate as it is compassionate. The Voyager Care team reflects the values I hold personally: empathy, inclusion, and authenticity. Together, we’ve created an environment where both staff and participants feel like they belong to something bigger than a service — they belong to a community.
Looking ahead, my vision for Voyager Care is to continue growing while never losing that personal, people-first feel. Expansion for us doesn’t mean getting bigger for the sake of it — it means reaching more people who need support, while keeping the warmth, quality, and community-based approach that set us apart. I want Voyager Care to be known not just as another provider, but as a trusted partner in people’s lives — one that values individuality, celebrates diversity, and champions inclusion at every step.
Voyager Care was built from lived experience, family experience, and professional experience — and that blend is what guides us every day. We exist to make sure participants and families know they have a voice, that they are respected, and that their journey with us will always be grounded in care, dignity, and genuine connection.
