WHAT IS MY ROLE? Support Worker

ABOUT ME:

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a compassionate, creative person who loves getting to know people and finding ways to support them in their everyday lives.

I have around five years of experience in disability support, with time away from work to raise my three young children. They fill my days with love, laughter and plenty of LOUD NOISES!

Before working in disability support, I spent 10 years as a florist. That’s where I grew my love of nature and found a way to express my creativity every day.

SKILLS:

  • I have experience supporting children as young as three in early intervention settings, as well as adults.

  • I listen and adapt my support to each person’s needs, interests and goals.

  • I enjoy noticing progress, celebrating the little wins and bringing a bit of fun to everyday moments.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS:

  • Expressing my creativity through art, music and fashion.

  • Exploring op shops and finding unique treasures.

  • Getting outdoors for a walk or heading to a Pilates class on the weekend.

  • Spending quality time with my family and friends.

WHY I BECAME A SUPPORT WORKER:

I became a support worker because I love helping people and building genuine connections. It means a lot to me to help someone feel heard and understood as they work towards a goal that matters to them. Having a bit of fun together along the way is one of my favourite parts of the job.

I love being part of the Voyager team. It feels like a close-knit community where people are welcomed and encouraged to be themselves.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT MY JOB:

I love getting to know each person and finding out what matters to them. One of my favourite parts of the job is seeing someone feel proud of something they’ve worked towards, whether it’s trying something new or taking a small step towards a goal. I love sharing those moments, having a laugh along the way and being part of a team where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.
