JANE

ABOUT ME:

Hi, I’m Jane, as an undiagnosed neurodivergent child, I found traditional schooling challenging and discovered that hands-on learning suited me far better. I went on to complete an Enrolled Nursing Diploma and an Advanced Diploma of Photography. I’ve worked as a carer and enrolled nurse, volunteered with HeartFelt WA and The Salvation Army, and spent many years caring for my mum and grandmother. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, gardening, stand-up comedy, and local film and TV projects. One of my career highlights was being the on-set photographer for the Australian film Paper Planes. I’m passionate about supporting people to feel valued, connected, and empowered.

WHY DID I BECOME A SUPPORT WORKER?

I became a support worker because I’ve always been passionate about helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives. Through my experiences as a carer, enrolled nurse, volunteer, and family carer, I discovered how rewarding it is to support people to achieve their goals, build confidence, and stay connected to their community. I love getting to know each person as an individual and helping them live a life that is meaningful to them.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT MY JOB:

What I love most about my job is building genuine connections with people and being part of their journey as they work towards their goals. I enjoy seeing participants grow in confidence, develop new skills, and achieve things they may not have thought possible. Every day is different, which keeps the role exciting and rewarding. Being able to support people to try new experiences, build meaningful relationships, and celebrate their successes, big or small, is what makes this work so fulfilling for me.
