The Purple Walk for Epilepsy - Curtin University

30 March 2025

On 30 March, our Founder & Director Tamzin Roy, alongside our Business Manager Kaitlyn Stott, attended the Purple Walk for Epilepsy held at Curtin University.

The Purple Walk is an annual community event dedicated to raising awareness, understanding, and support for people living with epilepsy, as well as their families, carers, and broader support networks. The event brings together individuals with lived experience, advocacy organisations, service providers, and allies — all united by a shared goal of increasing visibility, reducing stigma, and promoting inclusion.

For our team, the day was about more than simply attending an event. It was about showing up, listening, and standing in solidarity with a community that continues to advocate for understanding, accessibility, and acceptance. Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to connect with other organisations, families, and community members, and to be part of important conversations around the impact epilepsy can have on daily life, independence, and wellbeing.

At Voyager Care, advocacy and community connection are central to everything we do. Many of the individuals we support live with complex needs, and events like the Purple Walk serve as a powerful reminder of why awareness, education, and inclusive, person-centred support systems matter so deeply. Being present at events like this aligns with our commitment to not only provide high-quality supports, but also to actively contribute to a more informed, compassionate, and inclusive community.

We are proud to support initiatives that amplify lived experience and create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported. Attending the Purple Walk reflects our ongoing dedication to disability awareness, community engagement, and standing alongside causes that make a real difference.

We were honoured to take part in the 2025 Purple Walk and are already looking forward to participating again in the 2026 Purple Walk, continuing our support for epilepsy awareness and the incredible community behind this event. 💜
