What to expect when you start with us

  • First things first—we’d love to meet you! This is a relaxed and friendly catch-up where we get to know you, and you get to know us. Whether it’s over the phone, a video call, or face-to-face, this is your chance to ask questions, understand what we do, and see if we’re the right fit for you.

  • Everyone’s goals and support needs are different. During this step, we take the time to really listen. Tell us what’s important to you—your goals, your preferences, what’s working and what’s not. We’re here to understand how we can best support you to live the life you want.

  • Once you’re happy to move forward, we’ll take care of the paperwork together. This includes signing a Service Agreement (which outlines what supports we’ll provide and how) and filling out some basic client information forms. Don’t worry—we’ll walk you through everything in plain English and make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way.

  • Now the exciting part—your supports begin! Whether it’s help at home, in the community, or through one of our programs, we’ll kick off with your first booked session. You’ll meet your support team, and together we’ll start putting your goals into action.

  • You’re officially part of our community now! We love building lasting, meaningful relationships with the people we support. From here, we’ll continue to work with you regularly, check in on how things are going, and adapt your supports as needed. You’ll also have access to any group activities, programs or events we run—if that’s something you’re keen on!

You asked?…We answered

  • All our services follow the latest NDIS Price Guide and are designed to offer value while ensuring you get the support you need in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.

  • At Voyager Care, we want every support session to be meaningful, unrushed, and worthwhile. To make sure participants get the most out of their time with us — and to keep scheduling consistent and fair for everyone — we have a minimum booking duration of 3 hours.

This timeframe gives us enough space to:

    • Properly plan and deliver activities without rushing

    • Support participants with community access, group programs, or 1:1 assistance at a comfortable pace

    • Build quality connections and focus on achieving goals during each session

We know that every participant’s routine and needs are unique, so our team is happy to work with you to plan your hours in a way that suits your lifestyle, goals, and funding.

If you have any questions or would like guidance on structuring your support hours, please reach out — we’re here to make it as simple and stress-free as possible.

  • Yes, we do! 🚗✨

Transport is available to help participants get to and from our group supports, appointments, community activities, or even weekly errands. We charge $1.00 per kilometre, in line with the NDIS Pricing Guide.

Our goal is to make travel as smooth, safe, and stress-free as possible. Whether it’s a quick trip to the shops or a day out with the group, our support workers can provide reliable transport as part of your booked supports.

Just let us know if you’d like transport included, and we’ll plan it around your needs.

  • Voyager Care is proudly based in Wembley, Western Australia. Our home base is at WestCity Church, 63 Nanson Street, Wembley, which is where we host our Cooking, Gaming, and Life Skills Groups. This location is central, easy to access, and provides a safe and welcoming environment for our group supports.

Beyond our home base, we also provide community-based supports right across the Perth metro area. That means we can meet you at home, support you out in the community, or plan outings to local events and attractions — wherever support is needed most.

With plenty of parking nearby and good access to public transport, our location makes it simple for participants, families, and carers to connect with us.

  • At Voyager Care, we only claim supports from the Core Supports budget in your NDIS plan.

    ✅ What this means:

    • All our group programs (Cooking, Social Gaming, Life Skills) and 1:1 supports are billed through Core: Assistance with Social and Community Participation (Category 04).

    • Transport costs are also claimed from Core (using the NDIS transport allowance, e.g., $1.00/km).

    • We do not claim from your Capacity Building or Capital funding.

    💡 Why we do this:

    • Simplicity → Families and participants know exactly where the funding is coming from.

    • Flexibility → Core funding is the most versatile part of your plan, making it easier for you to access supports.

    • Transparency → You always know how supports are being billed, with no surprises.

  • At Voyager Care, we like to keep payments simple and transparent. After each support has finished, we will issue an invoice for the service. How the invoice is handled depends on how your NDIS plan is managed:

    🔹 If you are

    Self-Managed

    • The invoice will be sent directly to your nominated email address.

    • You are responsible for paying the invoice using your NDIS funds.

    • Once paid, you can then claim the amount back from the NDIS portal.

    🔹 If you are

    Plan-Managed

    • The invoice will be sent directly to your nominated Plan Manager.

    • Your Plan Manager will process the invoice on your behalf and pay us using your NDIS funds.

    • You don’t need to worry about making the payment yourself.

  • The name Voyager Care was inspired by our founder, Tam’s, love of Star Trek: Voyager. Just like the starship Voyager explored new worlds with courage, teamwork, and determination, our service is all about supporting participants on their own journeys — discovering new skills, building confidence, and navigating life with the right crew by their side.

We chose the word Voyager because it reflects adventure, growth, and the belief that everyone’s journey is unique. At Voyager Care, we’re here to travel alongside participants, providing guidance, support, and encouragement every step of the way.

  • We try to make our groups as easy and stress-free as possible — most of the materials you’ll need are provided by Voyager Care. However, there are a few things we recommend you bring along to make sure you’re comfortable and prepared:

    • Personal essentials: A water bottle, any medications you may need during the day, and personal care items.

    • Lunch or snacks: For some groups, you may need to bring your own lunch. On cooking days, a small contribution covers ingredients, and lunch is prepared together as part of the program.

    • Comfort items: If you have sensory tools, headphones, or anything that helps you feel at ease in social settings, you’re welcome to bring them.

    • Spending money (optional): If an outing is planned (e.g., bowling, café visit, excursions), you may wish to bring some pocket money for extra activities or purchases.

We’ll always let you know ahead of time if there’s anything special you need to bring for a particular group (like swim gear, event tickets, or extra contributions).

✨ The main thing is to bring yourself, a positive attitude, and a willingness to join in the fun!

  • At Voyager Care, we want our groups to be fun, affordable, and accessible for everyone. To make this possible, we sometimes ask participants to make a small contribution toward shared costs like cooking ingredients, entry fees, or special activities.

    Here’s how it works:

    • Cooking Groups 🥘

Each week, participants contribute a set amount (e.g., $8–$13) to cover the cost of fresh ingredients. Together, we use these to cook a shared meal as part of the program. This contribution is separate from your NDIS funding and goes directly toward the food for that session.

    • Outings & Excursions 🚐

For special activities (like bowling, movies, or community events), there may be an entry fee or ticket cost. We’ll always let you know in advance what the contribution will be and what it covers. Participants are also welcome to bring extra spending money if they’d like to buy drinks, snacks, or souvenirs.

    • Transparency & Fairness

Contributions are never a surprise — we’ll communicate clearly with you and your family/carer ahead of time if a contribution is needed.

We also make sure every dollar goes directly to covering group costs, not to staff or business overhead.

    • Optional Items 🎒

You may also choose to bring personal items (like snacks, comfort items, or sensory supports), but these aren’t part of the group contribution.

✨ In short: your NDIS funding covers your support time, and your contribution covers shared group costs like food or activity tickets. This way, everyone can enjoy group experiences that are fun, interactive, and great value.

  • Yes — we encourage it! At Voyager Care, we understand that starting something new can feel a little daunting, especially in a group setting. That’s why we offer participants the chance to come along for a trial session before deciding if the group is the right fit for you.

    🔹 How it works:

    • Booking a Trial: You (or your support coordinator/family) can contact us to arrange a trial session in the group of your choice.

    • During the Session: You’ll join in with the group just like any other participant — whether it’s cooking, gaming, or life skills — with our friendly staff there to guide and support you.

    • Trial Costs: The trial is still billed under your Core Supports funding as per the NDIS Pricing Arrangements, and if there’s a group contribution (e.g., for cooking ingredients or an outing fee), that will also apply.

    • No Pressure: After your trial, you can decide if you’d like to continue. There’s no obligation to sign up for ongoing sessions if it doesn’t feel right for you.

✨ Our goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, supported, and excited about being part of the Voyager Care community — at your own pace.

  • Yes! Our groups are designed to be inclusive, supportive, and low-pressure, making them ideal for people who experience anxiety or who are just starting to explore social settings.

🔹 What makes our groups supportive?

    • Small group sizes → We keep numbers low so participants don’t feel overwhelmed and can build connections at their own pace.

    • Friendly, trained staff → Our support workers are experienced in supporting people with anxiety, autism, and other conditions where social interaction can be challenging.

    • Flexible participation → There’s no pressure to talk, join every activity, or be “on” all the time. Participants can take breaks, step back, or ease in gradually.

    • Safe environments → We choose calm, predictable, and supportive settings for our programs — whether we’re cooking, gaming, or learning life skills.

    • Focus on confidence → Activities are structured to encourage small wins — celebrating achievements like trying a new recipe, making a new friend, or joining in a group game.

    🔹 For new participants

    • You’re welcome to trial a group before deciding to continue.

    • You can bring along comfort items, a support person, or use your own strategies (like headphones or sensory breaks).

    • We’ll check in regularly with you (and your family, if you’d like) to make sure the group feels safe and enjoyable.

✨ Our goal is to help participants build confidence, make friends, and enjoy themselves in a way that feels comfortable and supportive — never rushed.

  • At Voyager Care, we’re proud of our team! All our support workers are carefully chosen not just for their skills, but also for their compassion, reliability, and commitment to participant wellbeing.

    🔹 Minimum Requirements

Every support worker at Voyager Care has:

    • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or valid Working With Children Check & National Police Clearance).

    • Up-to-date First Aid & CPR certification.

    • A valid driver’s licence and comprehensive car insurance (if providing transport).

    • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Quality, Safety and You).

    🔹 Additional Training & Skills

Many of our workers also bring extra qualifications and experience, such as:

    • Mental health or counselling studies.

    • Disability support or community services training.

    • Nursing or health-related studies.

    • Lived experience of disability and neurodiversity.

    🔹 Ongoing Development

    • We provide regular supervision and training refreshers to keep our team up to date with best practice.

    • Staff are guided by our Voyager Care policies (covering safeguarding, behaviour support, privacy, incident management, and more).

    • We encourage professional development in areas such as trauma-informed care, behaviour support, and inclusive practices.

✨ This means when you join a Voyager Care group or 1:1 support, you can trust that your worker is qualified, safe, and committed to providing the highest quality support — while also being down-to-earth, approachable, and fun to be around.

  • We understand that sometimes things come up — whether it’s feeling unwell, family commitments, or just having a tough day. If you can’t attend a support session, here’s how it works:

    🔹 Letting Us Know

    • Please give us as much notice as possible if you can’t attend.

    • You (or your family/plan manager) can contact us by phone, text, or email to cancel a session.

    🔹 Cancellations with Notice

    • If you give at least 2 clear business days’ notice, there is no charge for the cancelled session.

    • We’ll work with you to reschedule or adjust supports if needed.

    🔹 Short-Notice Cancellations (or No-Show)

    • If a cancellation is made with less than 2 business days’ notice, or if you do not attend, we are permitted under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements to claim for the scheduled support.

    • This ensures our staff are still paid for the time they had set aside for you.

    🔹 Special Circumstances

    • We know emergencies happen — if something unexpected comes up (e.g., hospitalisation, urgent medical issue), please let us know and we will be understanding and flexible where possible.

    🔹 Why This Policy Exists

    • The cancellation rules are set by the NDIS and apply to all providers.

    • They help ensure consistency, fairness, and that our staff are supported for the work they’ve committed to.

✨ The most important thing: keep communication open. If you can’t make it, let us know — we’ll always do our best to support you and work around your needs.

  • At Voyager Care, our standard group programs (Cooking, Social Gaming, and Life Skills) run on weekdays during the day (9am–3pm). However, we understand that some participants may need support outside these hours, so we do offer flexibility for 1:1 supports on evenings or weekends when arranged in advance.

    🔹 Group Supports

    • Currently weekdays only → Our structured group programs are scheduled Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm.

    • This ensures consistency and routine, which we know is important for many participants.

    🔹 1:1 Supports

    • Evenings or weekends may be available depending on staff capacity.

    • These supports could include community access (like attending events, going shopping, or social activities) or in-home assistance.

    • All bookings outside standard hours need to be arranged in advance so we can match you with the right support worker.

    🔹 Pricing

    • The NDIS sets different price limits for supports delivered on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

    • If you access supports outside of weekday hours, the applicable NDIS rate will apply — we’ll always let you know before confirming the booking.

    🔹 Our Commitment

We aim to be as flexible as possible to meet your needs while making sure our workers are supported and paid fairly. If you’re interested in after-hours or weekend supports, just let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

  • At Voyager Care, participant safety and inclusivity are at the heart of everything we do. We are a neurodiverse-owned and run NDIS provider, which means we not only follow strict NDIS standards — we also understand the importance of creating environments where every person feels safe, valued, and respected.

    🔹 Safety

    • NDIS Standards & Policies → We follow the NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators, as well as our own policies covering safeguarding, incident management, complaints, privacy, and mandatory reporting.

    • Qualified staff → All workers hold current First Aid & CPR, NDIS Worker Screening, WWCC/Police Clearance, and complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.

    • Training & supervision → Our staff are trained in trauma-informed care, behaviour support, and safe transport, and receive regular supervision and refreshers.

    • Risk management → Every group and activity is risk-assessed to ensure participants are safe in the community and at our base.

    🔹 Inclusivity

    • Neurodiverse leadership → Being neurodiverse-owned means we get it — we design our programs with lived experience and participant needs front of mind.

    • Small group sizes → We keep numbers low so participants feel comfortable and not overwhelmed.

    • Choice & control → Participants are encouraged to choose their activities, set their own pace, and take breaks when needed.

    • Welcoming culture → We embrace diversity — whether it’s disability, neurodivergence, cultural background, gender identity, or personal interests. Everyone is accepted as they are.

    • Accessibility → Our supports are designed to be flexible, with adjustments made for sensory needs, communication preferences, and mobility requirements.

    🔹 Continuous Improvement

    • We regularly ask for feedback from participants and families to improve what we do.

    • Any concerns or complaints are taken seriously and managed through a fair, transparent process.

✨ In short: Voyager Care ensures supports are safe, professional, and inclusive by combining strong policies and training with empathy, lived experience, and a genuine commitment to participant wellbeing.
